Dolphy Social created an app that will spark your interest for an activity first, before you see who is inviting. However, most of us probably won’t be up to go on a blind outing. It would be perhaps instinctive to click on the user’s photo to view their profile and bio.

For some, gently enhanced photos and AI-enhanced bios won’t sway the decision to connect for a shared interest or activity. But for others, the photos in your profile will be equivalent to thousands of words, and your short bio can create an impression about your entire life and who you are.

The Power of First Impressions

This is natural—we all depend on first impressions. But how do we make a profile that generates interest instead of leaving others unimpressed? The key is to select photos and write a bio that exudes friendliness and authenticity, giving a positive perception right from the start.

The more your photos and bio reflect who you are, the better chance you give yourself to connect with others who will value who you are and enjoy your company.

Creating an Authentic Profile

Dolphy Social’s mission is to facilitate authentic and meaningful in-person experiences. Here’s our recommendation for a successful profile:

Nickname (Username)

Your full name will not be visible to others until the connection with another user is made, thus your nickname can speak volumes and will be part of that first impression. Pick a nickname that is representative of who you are—in a good way.

Main Photo

Use a clear, high-quality headshot without filters or editing. Your photo should be recent and represent your typical hairstyle and look.

Additional Photos

Use more photos to showcase your interests. Do you like to do certain activities? Do you have favorite travel places? While it might be tempting to project your interests and activities, we recommend highlighting activities that you do on a regular basis, not something you have done once and perhaps only for the photo.

Your Bio

Tell a few words about yourself. This can be anything you would normally share about yourself at the first introduction. Tell something about your goals and likes. Stay positive in your bio—it may be too soon to disclose your mishaps and unfortunate experiences.

Interests

While connecting based on specific interests is important and can bring meaningful connections, we encourage you to also be open-minded to connect with people outside your interest criteria. Keeping the interest setting open means you will see more invites and outing options. Sometimes you never know how trying a new activity will inspire you.

Enjoy your journey of connecting with others!
